Fandom Fest II: A sequel that improves on the original

Last Saturday, Fandom Fest returned to Rosedale parking lot in downtown Chambersburg for its second year last Saturday. And like a good sequel, it was bigger and better than the first time around. While live action role players demonstrated their combat skills near the park’s freshly-planted Liberty Tree, contestants lined up for the costume contest down by the water wheel. Up in the main lot, the Franklin County Bookmobile was parked only a few vendor spaces away from KITT from Knight Rider and the A-Team’s van. ‘Make it your life and stick with it’: Skate shop drops in to Main Street location

On Wednesday, Nov. 15, the Cumberland Valley Business Alliance hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Chasing Shadows Skateboards (67 N. Main St.). The shop offers skateboards, parts, accessories, guitars, music, videogames, books (including some manga), magazines, and other items. ‘Meet me at the Ruby’: New salon joins Main Street community

It has been a busy month for the Ruby Beauty Company (42 S. Main St.). Since they opened their doors on Oct. 10, they have participated in AppleFest and Main Street’s trick-or-treating event. Miniature art show draws big crowd

Comprised of 168 works by 54 artists from 15 states, the Council for the Arts’ “Miniature Art 2023” exhibit is kind of a big deal. The 39th annual juried exhibition opened with a reception on Friday, Nov. 3, and it will be on display in the council’s gallery space (103 N. Main St.) until Dec. 23.
